Equipment Recommendations for the Beginning Golfer

GLOVE--this will undoubtedly be one of the first purchases you will make. The glove is worn on the left hand for right-handed players -- and the right hand for left-handed players. Select a glove that fits skin tight. A cabretta leather glove is highly recommended. (Suggested cost: $10 or less)

SHOES--sneakers are most appropriate for use on the golf course. However, should you choose to purchase golf shoes, a comfortable pair of leather or waterproof shoes is a wise choice. "You only get one pair of feet--so get a good pair." Be sure to buy shoe trees to maintain and extend the life of your shoes. The Country Club's Pro Shop has an extensive choice of golf shoes at various prices. (Suggested cost: $80 or less)

CLUBS--with such diversity in manufacturers, sytles, features, and "advertising hype", the beginner may be overwhelmed and confused about buying clubs. The following chart is designed to simplify this process for you.

BAGS--golf bags should be "light-weight" but of durable, strong construction. We recommend a stand-bag for men and a cart-bag for women. The bag may be purchased separately or as part of a complete package.

BALLS--when it comes to golf balls for beginners, the key words are "inexpensive" and "experienced".
